Description

Our Thinking together video series brings the early childhood experts to you. In this video, US expert Ann Pelo gives an inspiring account of what it means to ‘join our attention’ to the child’s attention, and how it can enrich both our own practice and the child’s experiences. With real-life examples and clear messages, this is a stimulating and practical exploration of communication, relationships and learning.

Ann Pelo is a teacher-educator, program consultant and author whose primary work focuses on Reggio-inspired, social justice, and ecological teaching and learning. She worked as a teacher and teacher mentor for 16 years at a full-day, not-for-profit childcare centre in Seattle, Washington. Currently, Ann works with early childhood educators and administrators in North America, Australia and New Zealand, thinking with them about inquiry-based teaching and learning, pedagogical leadership, and the necessary place of ecological identity in children’s—and adults’—lives.

Watch the video interview and then work through our list of reflective questions, developed by early childhood expert Jenni Connor to stimulate shared thinking and discussion. Running time: 12 minutes + discussion.
