This unique collaboration between the ECA Learning Hub and the Koori Curriculum focuses on intercultural approaches, prioritising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educator voices from around Australia.
In this program:
- Educators will be guided through a series of concepts, ideas, resources and stories from practitioners to support their individual and service’s journey of reconciliation and being culturally responsive. Each course will address this through a different lens: a practical and relational perspective. The uniqueness of these courses bring to the forefront contemporary practices and perspectives from individuals and services from every state and territory across Australia.
- They are designed to be completed in any order, however learners must complete both courses for them to be marked as complete.
- They will support learners to understand the importance of why reconciliation and the how of being culturally responsive.
- The interviews, practical examples and case studies from services highlight how they embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and culture into their services. These services in turn share how their individual journeys have evolved over time.
- You do not have to complete them in one sitting; they have been designed with several reflection points and opportunities throughout to take time to explore, read, research or share findings with a colleague.
- The examples and interviews support educators with practical ideas on how to get started, however, these are not to be copied and replicated within other settings. Research and planning will ensure your service embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives that are relevant to the children, families and the communities in which your service operates.
